Our Managing Partner, Ravil Kassilgov, joined the panel “Arbitration from the Inside: What In-house Counsel Really Want”, moderated by Jeff Erlich, Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Kazakhstan.
The panel brought together Elyar Aliyev of bp, Samir Abdullayev of Alstom, Zmarak Khan of the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP), Artem Timoshenko of Unicase Central Asia, and Ravil Kassilgov to discuss what businesses expect from arbitration in real commercial disputes.
The key message of the discussion was clear: clients need more than legal process. They need predictability, enforceability, cost efficiency, commercial judgment, and dispute strategies that support business decisions.
Ravil highlighted that arbitration should not be treated as an end in itself. It must serve the client’s commercial objectives and provide a practical path to resolving disputes effectively.
